Glen Ellen Project 2003
	This imposing fireplace, inspired by a Bernard Maybeck design, rises 34 feet from base to the top of chimney. The fireplace doubles as a structural member, carrying the roof load; it incorporates alternating wood-grain relief, tapering trapezoidal flue and a batter-board chimney.
Close-up of the side of the fireplace: A stainless steel mesh door conceals the wood storage and a matching alcove on the opposite side contains the entertainment system.
